Privacy and data handling
Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026.
This policy explains what personal information FinanceOpsClub collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it. The goal is plain-language transparency — not legal text designed to obscure what is actually happening with your data.
Data controller
FinanceOpsClub operates this website and acts as the data controller for personal information collected through it. If you have questions about how your data is handled, you can reach us through the contact page.
Information we collect
Contact form submissions: When you reach out through a contact, inquiry, or sponsorship form, we collect the details you provide — typically name, email address, company name, and message content. We only keep what you choose to send.
Analytics data: We use third-party analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site. This includes pages viewed, time on page, referral source, browser type, and approximate geographic region. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify individuals.
Technical data: Standard server and session data — including IP addresses and browser signals — may be collected as part of normal site operation, security monitoring, and performance management.
Lawful basis for processing
For visitors from the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom, we process personal data under the following lawful bases: legitimate interests (for analytics and site security), consent (for any non-essential cookies or tracking), and contract performance (when handling a sponsorship or commercial inquiry).
For California residents, we do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. We do not share personal data with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising without consent.
How we use information
Contact data is used to respond to inquiries, manage editorial or sponsorship requests, and support normal internal workflows. We do not add you to marketing lists without explicit consent.
Analytics data is used to improve editorial coverage, understand which pages are useful, identify where site structure creates confusion, and measure the overall health of the site. The goal is a better research experience for buyers — not building behavioral profiles for ad targeting.
Technical data is used for security, fraud prevention, and diagnosing site performance issues.
Third-party services
Analytics: The site uses Google Analytics (or a privacy-focused equivalent) to collect aggregated usage data. Google's data processing terms apply to data handled by that service. Analytics data is not used to personally identify visitors.
Hosting and infrastructure: The site is hosted on cloud infrastructure that processes technical data as a standard part of serving web pages. Hosting providers operate under their own data processing agreements.
Email and forms: Contact form submissions may be routed through a third-party form or email service. We select providers that handle data appropriately and do not use submission data for their own marketing purposes.
Payment processors: If any paid services or sponsorship transactions occur through the site, payment processing is handled by a third-party processor. FinanceOpsClub does not store payment card data.
Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as they are relevant to the inquiry or relationship — typically no longer than 24 months from last contact unless there is an ongoing commercial relationship that requires a longer record.
Analytics data is retained according to the default or configured settings of the analytics platform in use. Aggregate reporting data may be retained indefinitely, but individual session data is generally not kept beyond 14 months.
Technical and server logs are typically retained for 30 to 90 days for security and diagnostic purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights: the right to access the personal data we hold about you, the right to correct inaccurate data, the right to request deletion of your data, the right to restrict or object to certain processing, and the right to data portability.
EEA and UK residents have these rights under GDPR. California residents have similar rights under CCPA, including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of sale (though we do not sell data).
To exercise any of these rights, use the contact page. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. That includes HTTPS encryption on all pages, access controls on internal systems, and limiting data collection to what is operationally necessary.
No system is completely secure. If you become aware of a security issue involving your data, please contact us so we can investigate.
Children's privacy
FinanceOpsClub is a professional resource for finance and accounting teams. The site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child has submitted personal data through the site, we will delete it promptly.
International data transfers
FinanceOpsClub is operated from the United States. Visitors located in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with data transfer restrictions should know that their information may be transferred to and processed in the US. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms — such as Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect cross-border data transfers.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the last updated date at the top will reflect the revision. For significant changes, we may add a notice on the site. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
