Anaplan alternatives and competitors

Anaplan is built for enterprises that connect finance with sales, supply chain and workforce plans on one model. If your planning is mostly finance, you have no model builders, or you want to try a tool before a sales cycle, one of these seven may fit better.

Pigment is the closest like-for-like option, Workday Adaptive Planning and Planful suit finance-first teams, Vena keeps Excel, OneStream and Oracle EPM lead on consolidation, and Board adds retail and supply chain planning.

Why teams switch from Anaplan

A reason to switch has to be structural: the pricing model, the ERP it has to sit inside, a deployment or security constraint, or the admin effort to keep it running. If none of the reasons below describes your setup, the migration will cost more than the problem it solves, and the Anaplan profile is the better place to spend an hour.

You may not need cross-department models

Anaplan's case rests on sales, supply chain and workforce plans flowing into the P&L on one shared model. If your process is a departmental budget and a monthly reforecast, a finance-first tool such as Planful or Workday Adaptive Planning covers it with less modeling.

Someone has to build and own the models

Anaplan models need trained builders, and implementation is done by Anaplan or a certified partner. Without an internal model owner, budget for partner support after go-live as well as during the rollout.

No trial and no public price

Anaplan lists no free trial, and its pricing link routes to a sales contact form. Pigment offers a 14-day trial and Workday Adaptive Planning a 30-day trial, so you can test modeling with your own data first.

Your pain is the close, not the plan

Anaplan sells consolidation and reporting applications, but if statutory consolidation and reconciliations are the main job, OneStream and Oracle Fusion Cloud EPM put the close at the center of the product.

Anaplan alternatives compared

Read the last column first. Ruling an option out is quicker than ranking what is left, and every tool in this table gives something up. If more than one person has to sign off, record each reason in the software evaluation scorecard as you work down the rows.

Anaplan alternatives in detail

Nothing here is ranked, because this site publishes no scores. Each entry names who it suits better than Anaplan, what the vendor charges and what you give up by taking it, so an entry whose "best for" is not you is one you can drop without reading further.

Best for: Cross-department planning you can trial first

2. Workday Adaptive Planning

Price: Quote-based (vendor source, checked 25 Sep 2026).

Vena logo

4. Vena

Best for: Teams that want to stay in Excel

Vena keeps Excel as the interface for templates, reports and models, while its CubeFLEX database handles data, workflow, version control and audit trail. It links natively with Microsoft 365, Teams and Power BI.

Key difference: Planners work in Excel instead of learning a new modeling language.

What you give up: Excel-based models can get harder to govern as they grow, and export APIs cost extra.

OneStream logo

5. OneStream

Best for: Multi-entity groups where consolidation drives the project

OneStream puts close and consolidation, account reconciliations, transaction matching, planning and reporting on one data model. CPM Express lets a team start with one process and add the rest later.

Key difference: Consolidation and reconciliations are core to the platform rather than an added application.

What you give up: Full implementations are long projects, and the SensibleAI products are sold separately.

Price: Quote-based (vendor source, checked 25 Sep 2026).

Board logo

6. Board

Best for: Retail and supply chain planning next to finance

Board sells FP&A, financial close and consolidation, merchandising, commercial, supply chain and workforce planning to enterprises, with an Office add-in and an SAP connector available as add-ons.

Key difference: Merchandising and retail planning sit beside finance close under one vendor.

Price: EPM Standard $250 per named user/month (10-user minimum), list price (vendor source, checked 25 Sep 2026).

When to stay with Anaplan

Staying put is the right answer more often than a shortlist implies. Anaplan has to be wrong on something you cannot configure or negotiate around before a move pays for itself, and what Anaplan actually charges usually settles whether cost is that thing.

Stay with Anaplan if your plans genuinely cross departments and you already have people who can build and maintain the models. Switching then means rebuilding working links between operational and financial plans, which is the hardest part of any planning project.

  • Sales quota, headcount or supply plans already feed the P&L inside Anaplan.
  • You have trained model builders, in-house or through a partner, so the modeling cost is already sunk.
  • You use the prebuilt applications or the role-based AI agents (Finance, Sales, Supply Chain and Workforce Analyst).

Choosing between Anaplan alternatives

Cut the list to two or three, not five. Put the Anaplan profile next to them, send every vendor the same scoping questions so the quotes come back comparable, and ask each one what the first ninety days look like.

Do the arithmetic before the demo. The software ROI calculator shows whether the saving covers implementation, and the full list of forecasting software is where to widen the field if none of these fit.
